Point Transaction Systems acquires CTcoin.dk
2010.11.08.
Point Transaction Systems A/S and CTcoin.dk A/S, two of Denmark’s leading suppliers of payment terminals, are merging with immediate effect. All of CTcoin.dk’s activities and product lines will continue under the name of Point, and the aim of the merger is to create one of the strongest players in the market.
OPENHAGEN 1 November 2010 – Point Transaction Systems, one of the market’s largest suppliers of payment terminals, is today announcing its takeover of the Danish company CTcoin.dk, which also sells and services payment terminals. The merger sees the fusion of two strong and complementary businesses under a single name, thereby giving Point and CTcoin.dk a shared position of strength which will pave the way for further growth.
Since its establishment in 2006, CTcoin.dk has built a strong sales organisation, and, together with Point’s technical expertise and knowhow, the two companies can provide an even broader level of service to the market.
“For several years, Point and CTcoin.dk have been competing for the same customers and market segments. Now we are pooling our resources under a single North European brand, Point Transaction Systems. This means that we can act far more dynamically in relation to the market, and, thanks to the companies’ respective competencies, customer service and unique product mix, we can implement a growth strategy under optimum economic conditions,” says Gerner Nielsen, CEO of Point Transaction Systems A/S.
“The merger with Point is an attractive and obvious step for both parties, because we supplement each other in a number of strategically important areas. The market for card transactions is changing radically at the moment, and we will be able to influence this in future in a completely different and more aggressive way. Together we have significant technical resources at our disposal and considerable international sales experience, and we therefore expect the merger to create the foundation for an even greater market share,” says Carsten Krogh, CEO of CTcoin.dk A/S, which is domiciled in Odense on Funen.
Carsten Krogh will continue in the company as its new sales and marketing director, while Gerner Nielsen from Point will remain CEO. The merged company will have more than 90 employees. The Point Group, as a whole, has more than 600 employees.

About CTcoin.dk A/S
CTcoin.dk A/S was established as an independent company in 2006, but originally started as a department of CTcoin A/S about 10 years ago. CTcoin.dk staked its future on the sale and servicing of payment terminals, and it was clearly an astute move, given that over the past five years the company has grown from six to 35 employees.
